Who is responsible

Distail Group OÜ (registry code 11116510) is responsible for your data. For any question, email hello@paywhatyouwant.art.

What we collect and why

• Waitlist: your email and language, to tell you when the gallery opens. Kept until you ask us to remove it (email hello@paywhatyouwant.art).
• Nominating a painter: your name and email (to contact you and pay your 3% scout fee), and the details you give about the painter (to contact them about joining). If the painter says no, a curator deletes their details. Nominations are deleted automatically after 24 months, unless the painter joined: then we keep the nomination for as long as a scout fee may be owed to you.
• Applying as a painter: the details you send, to review your work and contact you. Deleted automatically after 24 months unless you join the gallery.
• Spam protection: we count submissions per connection using a pseudonymised form of your IP address (scrambled with a secret key). The counts are deleted automatically within the hour.

Legal basis

We process your own details on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. For a painter you nominate, we rely on our legitimate interest in contacting them about joining.

Where it is stored

The website and database run on Cloudflare, with the database located in the European Union. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver the pages and block attacks; we don't keep it in our database or our logs. We don't sell data or use advertising trackers. Visitors get no cookies (only the staff admin area uses one login cookie).

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, or for it to be corrected or deleted, at hello@paywhatyouwant.art. You can also complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (aki.ee).
